Register
of experts on environment
In 2003 the
International Centre for Scientific and Technical Information
(ICSTI) has started a long-term project to produce a Register
of Experts on Environment.
Purpose
of the register: The register should appeal to UNEP, other
organizations of UN system and as well as international and national
environmental and financial organizations, interested in contacts
and collaboration with environmental experts in the Russian Federation,
other EECCA countries for preparation of global or regional environmental
studies and outlooks, project assessment, conferences, etc.
Form of
implementation and content: The register will be produced
as a regularly updated hard-copy and electronic (CD and web-based)
publication and contain referral information (contact data, scope
of professional expertise, international experience, etc.) in
English and Russian on environmental experts from countries of
the EECCA region. Experts wishing to participate in the Register
are kindly requested to fill out a questionnaire available here.
Subject
scope of expert's specialization: Subject sections will be
categorized according to international standards and practice.
At the initial/pilot stage it is planned to limit the subject
scope of the register to the following selected thematic fields
(adjustments possible):
- environmental information (environmental information systems,
access to environmental information, environmental information
tools, etc.);
- environmental law (environmental legislation, regulations, etc.);
- environmental technology (concepts of cleaner production, energy
saving technologies, pollution prevention, clean-up, etc.);
With account of the pilot stage experience, as well as recommendations
of UNEP and other interested partners, the subject scope of the
register could be extended and other subjects included, e.g.,
monitoring, environmental assessment, etc.
Geographical coverage: RF - pilot stage, EECCA - second stage,
ICSTI member states (18 countries of Europe, Asia & L.America)
- third stage.
Project duration: 2003 - 2005.
Please forward filled out questionnaires or possible quires here.
